The Main Line Murders - New Edition 2013
Two bodies are found on the railway line near Cramwell Station. The local press name the case, "The Main Line Murders". It is the first recorded case of a serial killer in Old Cramwell, a northern English seaside town in flux, between its industrial past and regenerated future. The first victim is an elegantly dressed woman whose head is so badly crushed it is impossible to identify her from dental records.
As the investigation becomes more complex, Flynn believes the key to solving the case could lie in the dark, secret past of Brampton Psychiatric Hospital. With four possible suspects and a deadly, psychotic killer on the loose, will DI Flynn and his team discover the truth in time to save the next victim?
Reviews
“It reminded me of Waking the Dead. I recommend it." Alex Andreou - The Editor, Larnaca News
“I found the novel to be intriguing, well written & very interesting & captivating when trying to work out the relationships between the characters & ultimately who committed the murders. For a thought provoking yet generally ‘light read’ I would definitely recommend this book"

I am still reading this book - I am about 70% through it. I have to admit, it was a little hard to follow at first. What seemed like random characters were introduced rapidly and it was confusing since their relationship to one another wasn't clear at first. However, the connections do become clear and it's an interesting read. I must also say that I don't like any of the characters in the book. The women are weak and hung up on their men, and the men are chauvinistic bullies or worse. But a lot of it is set at a fictional (I assume) university in England and since I work at a university, I find the comparisons fascinating, especially when it comes to the politics among teaching faculty. I picked this up on sale and while I don't yet know how the book ends, I do think it was worth the sale price. I just wish there was one likeable character in the book. Maybe I'll find one in the last third of the book.Product details

The Main Line Murders DI Flynn Mysteries Book 1 eBook Sonia Kilvington Reviews
I didn't make it past the fifth chapter because there was no dialog (I'm not a big fan of books with no dialog) and I found it hard to figure out which character was which
this book started very slowly.it was hard to follow as it kept switching time periods.i kep mixing up julia and jennifer.
Looks like I'm the odd man out here. I should point out that I downloaded this ebook mistakenly, but given the $0.99 cost I thought I'd keep it. So it's not a book I purposely chose.
The characters are finely drawn and there's plenty to keep track of, plot-wise. My main issue with the book is that these characters are not the kind of people I would want to know, and therefore I could not get interested in them or care about what happens to them. The only socially redeemable characters seem to be the police. There's a lot of romance in the plot, along with infidelity, pregnancy, alcoholism and domestic violence, all of which makes the story line read like a soap opera, or perhaps a made-for-TV movie. I'm not a prude, but this just isn't my cup of tea.
On a technical note, there are a number of blatant typos (and I don't mean the British spellings). Unless the rules are different in England than in the US, I'd have to give the author an "F" for punctuation. Does it matter? For me the misplaced semicolons and commas interrupted the flow of the narrative.
I like mysteries that take place in university settings, but this one just didn't work for me.
Good plot, Good suspense. I really enjoyed reading this book. Well done Sonia Kelvington, can not wait for your next book. -)
I just couldn't engage with the story or the characters. This was one of those rare books that I definitely COULD put down; I didn't finish it.
This book was really badly written - dozens of spelling and grammar mistakes (feinted instead of fainted), lots of words not correctly used. I am shocked than an editor didn't pick these up. The actual murders were hardly mentioned and the investigations a mere byproduct. The story line is incredibly weak and all the characters either one dimensional (like the detective) or just plain unlikeable and no redeeming qualities. Don't waste your money on this book.
I struggled through the first third of the book and then the story gets a real pace and it becomes a page turner.
